How to use this tool

What goes on a receipt, and why
- Who paid and who was paidBoth parties, the same as an invoice, because the receipt is the record each side files.
- The payment date and methodThe two facts a receipt exists to certify. They print on the PAID stamp and in the paid-on line, and they are what an expense claim or a warranty check looks for.
- What the payment was forThe line items, so the receipt can be matched to the invoice it settles. Quote the invoice number in the reference field when there was one.
- A balance of zeroThe amount paid is preset to the total, so the document reads as settled rather than owed. If a customer paid part, enter the actual amount and the balance shows what is still open; that document is a part-paid invoice, not a receipt.
- A receipt numberFrom its own sequence (RCT-1001), not the invoice sequence, so the two records never collide.

This generator was built by Ready Utilities on the same engine as the site's invoice builder. Receipt conventions follow the invoice-versus-receipt distinction drawn by Sage, QuickBooks, and Stripe: a receipt records a payment that has happened. It runs in your browser and stores nothing you type unless you choose to save your business details on this device.
